REVIEW & SWATCHES OF KIKO SPARKLING HOLIDAY COLLECTION

Hi Everyone,

So finally I take out time and up with KIKO SPARKLING HOLIDAY COLLECTION review and swatches.

DESCRIPTION:-

From the collection, I picked up a few things:-

• SPARKLING HOLIDAY MATTE LIPSTICK 04- RS.1190/-
• SPARKLING HOLIDAY METALLIC HIGHLIGHTER 01- RS.1590/-
• SPARKLING HOLIDAY METALLIC EYESHADOW 01- RS.1490

PACKAGING:-

The collection focused on the golden kind of metallic packaging. I really like the packaging as it gives holiday vibes. The outer carton box of all products is metallic golden while the product itself comes in a metallic silver packaging. The eyeshadow and highlighter have a beautiful self-design which makes the products looks gorgeous and classy.

MY EXPERIENCE:-

Starting with the lipstick, it is comfortable, ultra-matte finish lipstick. It glides super smoothly on my lips and blurs outs my fine lines of lips. The lipstick is super pigmented. One or two swipe is just enough to get the opaque coverage. It stays pretty 6 hours on my lips. I wish I picked two more shades from this range :(

Moving to eyeshadow now, there was 5/6 eyeshadow in this collection but I picked shade 01 only which is a beautiful metallic golden eyeshadow. The eyeshadow had a few glitters in it for which made the eyeshadow looks glittery when applied on eyelids. The Eyeshadow works great with fingers or wet brush.  A perfect eyeshadow for everyone, every occasion.

Lastly the highlighter, I picked up shade 01 again. The highlighter looks almost the same as eyeshadow in the pan but in reality, both are different. The highlighter has subtle shimmers in it while the eyeshadow is glittery.

So, overall I love this KIKO MILANO HOLIDAY COLLECTION as they really pretty and definitely very good quality.

Mac X Chris Chang Poesia Collection

Mac launches so many collection one after another that it was really hard for me to track and post about each collection accordingly, still I have lined up everything on the basis of my preference of posting :) 

 "The price hike of the product due to being in limited edition packaging and the constant launch of limited edition one after another creating much disappointment in many Mac lovers. And it is more disappointment when few best collection doesn't launch in India.”

Anyways keeping all the hard feelings side apart let’s get into today’s post : )

Mac Chris Chang Poesia collection is the collection that never launched in India but it created much hype to the rest of world due to its packaging (mostly) and for the collaboration of famous Chris Chang with Mac cosmetics.

The collection was launched on 5th May 2016 online and 12th May in stores. As it was never launched in India so I had to grab it from the USA with the help of a friend of mine.

The famous Chris Chang from Poesia collection said about his inspiration comes from the traditional aesthetics of ethnic tribes and costumes from various countries, as well as the transformative world of art.

He said “My designs are for women who are eccentric and confident. The color is the integral fuel of my imagination and the spirit MAC and I share. This collaboration is a dream come true for the maximalists of the world.”


The collection consists of lipsticks, cream color base, fluid line, eye shadows, prep plus prime transparent finishing powder.

My story:-

It was only me among my friends who was at first not so interested into the collection but blame those makeup love gene in my DNA that urge for it for packaging. So I grab one lipstick (I had to grab one lipstick as you know, I am a lipstick holder) and one prep plus prime transparent pressed powder (after getting the lipstick first, I was dying to grab something big from this collection just for the sake of beauty of the packaging in my makeup stash).

Price:-

 

Lipstick: - $20 each.
Prep plus prime transparent Pressed powder:- $29.50

Packaging:-

 

Both the lipstick and the Prep plus prime powder have colorful packaging. This is one of the exclusive collection of Mac I guess, as the creativity of the packaging is not limit within the outer carton of the products and on the products case but there are designs inside the carton of the product too. The glossy finish of the packaging along with the sturdy case makes the collection worth trying (if you are a packaging lover).

 
A small confession :-
 
The Poesia collection is a very colorful collection no doubt, but I found there are only a few things that are wearable actually… 

My experience:-

 

Starting with the lipstick first. The lipstick I grab is named “VERMILLION VEE”, it is a clean true red matte lipstick that is my go-to red now. 

 Among all the four lipstick I found only this one attractive for me. The lipstick is a matte finish. It glides super smoothly on lips without tugging and pulling off my lips. I found that although it is matte but it has a creamy consistency like satin finish one for first few minutes and then it slowly turn matte. The red lipstick looks like “tomato red” (my version of describing of this red lipstick) on my skin tone. It really brightens up my complexion (yeah, I do have few red that tone down my complexion, but that is another story, I will talk about it on some other day… ;)). It stays pretty 6 hours on my lips without any fading. Despite such awesome packaging, I found that Mac for first time focuses on the quality of the product too. The red lipstick is a versatile red shade that will suit everyone, everyone means everyone from fair to dusky from cool to warm undertones beauties too. I never thought a red lipstick can be so versatile after the cult red lipstick from Mac “Ruby Woo”.

Next is the Prep plus prime powder. Coming to the packaging first, the powder is a pressed powder that comes in a beautiful mirror case packaging but without any sponge, which is little odd…as Mac studio fix powder plus foundation comes with a free sponge so I wish it has come with a sponge. The case is really sturdy and it closes the lid with a click sound.

 The powder is white/no color powder on my skin. It matches my skin tone beautifully.  I brought this powder just in curiosity as I never use any prep plus prime from Mac before. So I was little nervous and at the same time was worried because I was in a dilemma that whether spending so many bucks behind this pressed powder will worth or not?

The very first time I swatched Mac prep plus prime I found it bit chalky on my fingers and it was also looking little rough on the pan . But after using it on my face, I found the powder is pretty blendable with makeup sponge on my face and it doesn't leave any white cast (as it is a white powder) on my face. It although look white on the pan but it is actually a no color powder on my NC 35 skin.

How I use the Prep plus prime pressed powder ?

I used the powder as a translucent powder just over the top of my BB cream with a makeup sponge for medium coverage and for light coverage I use a powder brush all over the face. Sometimes, I use it under my eyes after using concealers to set my concealers. The powder stays pretty well over my BB cream and it doesn’t let my concealers crease for 5-6 hours and I look fresh during this hot and humid weather. 

Over in all, I just love the lipstick and the translucent pressed powder. 

Mac Poesia Collection although doesn’t have many wearable shades in it (I know I am repeating the sentence again and again) but I am happy that I pick the best of two from the collection for mine. All I wished it launched in India.

Mac Vibe tribe Collection for summer 2016:-

“Keeping all the controversy aside, let’s talk about makeup only and let’s adore the product and packaging today”

Mac Vibe Tribe collection that turns out hit internationally due to its stunning shades that are perfect for summer and a little bit of the controversy that it bring along with.

A little Info about the Collection:-

The collection hit the stores internationally on 19th May 2016 and in India in June/July (most probably, correct me if I am wrong).
The prices of each product are slightly higher than the regular one. It is definitely because of the limited edition packaging.

The collection includes eyeshadow palettes, patent polish lip pencil, cream color base, Gleamstones powder, Bronzing Powder, Studio sculpt defining bronzing powder, Technakohl eyeliners, lipsticks, brush, makeup bag, studio nail lacquer and powder blushes.

I grab one lipstick Hot Chocolate which is the hottest selling lipstick in this collection and Matte bronzer (permanent). Yeah, I grab matte bronzer in limited edition packaging as I am a sucker for packaging (I admit openly) and wanted something different packaging for Mac matte bronzer. So when Mac launched its bronzer in limited edition packaging I grab it happily (call me mad: P ).

Price:-

  Lipstick":- $18 (Rs.1600/-).

Matte Bronze Bare shouldered bronze (Permanent):- $27 (don’t know the current Indian price).

Packaging:-

The lipstick and bronzer comes in a beautiful limited edition packaging. The lipstick has the signature smell of vanilla whereas the matte bronzer has no smell at all (it look like chocolate brown, but don't smell like that... :P ).

 

My experience:-

Lipstick:-

The lipstick “Hot chocolate” was the hottest selling lipstick from this collection.  Mac hot chocolate lipstick is a re promote one from a past collection “Apres Chic” collection. I skipped the lipstick from that previous collection as I was little doubt about the lipstick at first because it looks like kind of wash out shade for my warm skin tone. But when Mac re promote the shade in this collection, I decide to give it a try after seeing tons of swatches online.

The lipstick is satin in finish.It is a beautiful brownish plum in a satin finish that goes beautiful with my skin tone. This is a very pretty shade that will suit everyone from fair to dusky skin tone people in its own way. Maybe it is a bit different kind of shade compare to those shades in which I am comfortable mostly (those pinks, reds, and corals). But this shade actually gave me the guts to try different shades and made me re-think that "anyone can carry any shades, depending on the confidence in them to carry it". 

Anyways coming back to review, the lipstick stays pretty 5-6 hours on my lips. The satin finish of the lipstick is quite comfortable on my lips and with hours it turns out matte on my lips(i have dry lips now). The lipstick is not hydrating one but it keeps your lips well moisturized (perfect for dry winters mostly).

It goes perfectly with my brown or black Smokey eyes or any dramatic eyes. I usually love to pair up with bold kajal on my lower lash line.  It is a “must try” shade from this collection.

Bronzer:-

Coming to the bronzer, although it is in this collection in limited edition packaging but it is from Mac permanent line. Honestly speaking the review of Mac bronzer is not good at all, it is because many people complain that it hard to work with such bronzer while few says it hardly show up on skin.

So, when I grab the bronzer I knew it that it not going to impress me as much but at the same time the shade of Mac matte bronzer is the exact shade that I was looking for contouring during day time. It is a light muddy brown kind shade that mostly show up on fair skin people. On my NC 35skin tone(now i am NC 30, as Delhi weather lighten up my skin...:P ), I need a 3-4 swipe to show up on my skin. It is buildable shade but at the same time, it is hard to get the product on the brush. 

Overall the lipstick impresses me a lot whereas the bronzer fails to do that , but I will definitely find a way to use it easily and will share with you all in my tutorial videos.
